It's the panel families most often ask for during the monsoon and post-monsoon fever season. Call 8872524007 to book or ask what's included today.
What the Fever Profile test checks
Our standard Fever Profile includes:
- CBC: haemoglobin, white cell count and differential, and platelets. A low platelet count leans towards dengue; a high white count leans towards bacterial infection.
- Malaria: rapid antigen and/or smear for Plasmodium parasites.
- Widal or Typhidot for typhoid.
- Dengue NS1 antigen, the early marker for dengue.
- CRP, a general marker of inflammation.
- Urine routine, since a urinary infection is an easily missed cause of fever, especially in women, children and older people.
The exact contents may change. We'll confirm the list when you book, and your doctor can add or drop tests.
Why your doctor may order it
A fever test panel makes sense when the cause isn't obvious from examination. Dengue, malaria, typhoid and urinary infections can all start with fever, body ache and weakness. Testing for them together saves a second trip and a second needle.
If the doctor already strongly suspects one cause, a single test may be enough: the dengue test, the Widal / typhoid test or the malaria test.
How to prepare
No fasting is needed. Before you come, note down the day the fever started and any medicines taken, especially antibiotics or antimalarials. For the urine part, collect a midstream sample in the sterile container we give you. Patients who are too weak to travel can use home sample collection.
Sample type and report time
Blood is drawn once into two or three tubes (EDTA for the CBC and malaria, serum for Widal, NS1 and CRP), plus a urine sample. Most results are ready the same day if samples reach us by about 11 am. Call 8872524007 if you need the report urgently for a doctor's visit.
Understanding your results
Each test in the profile answers a different question, and none of them works alone. A negative dengue NS1 on day 7 is less meaningful than on day 2. A Widal done on day 3 is often still negative. A raised CRP says inflammation is present but not where.
Your doctor puts the pieces together with your symptoms and examination. Sometimes the next step is a repeat CBC for platelets, or a follow-up antibody test a few days later.
Go to a hospital first if there's severe stomach pain, repeated vomiting, bleeding from gums or nose, drowsiness, breathlessness or very little urine.
FAQ
What is a fever profile blood test?
It's a group of tests done together to find the common causes of fever: blood count, malaria, typhoid, dengue NS1, CRP and urine routine. One sample, one visit.
On which day of fever should I get it?
Many doctors order it around day 2 to 4. Dengue NS1 works best early, while typhoid antibodies show up later, so your doctor may time it or repeat parts.
Is a fever profile test near me in Banur possible without visiting the lab?
Yes. If you need a fever profile test near me in Banur, our collector can visit homes in Banur and nearby villages daily, and in Rajpura, Zirakpur and the Mohali side by appointment.
Can a child have the fever profile?
Yes, with a doctor's advice. We use child-sized tubes and draw only what's needed.
